The most intimate friend of Garibaldi in this country was lately observed to look very sad, and to sigh heavily, at the mention of the General’s name.

“Because he has lately taken to himself a wife?”

“What stronger ground for commiseration can there be?”
“Alexandre Dumas is going to write his life!”
